Gangwon Land has decided to replace all casino chips.
Kangwon Land announced on the 5th that it plans to invest 5.7 billion won by 2024 to produce 631,200 new casino chips.
This chip replacement is due to hygiene issues. Gangwon Land's chips, which were used by more than 3 million people last year, go through the hands of not only customers but also dealers. In particular, there is a high risk of exposure to germs as chips fall to the floor by mistake during games, or some customers take them home without changing them into cash.
All 900,000 chips in use will be discarded. Gangwon Land expects that there will be no problem in casino operation, although there will be about 300,000 fewer chips than before.
